Early Detection & Prevention
We want to make early detection and prevention a right, not a privilege. Not everyone understands the value of incorporating preventative screenings into their everyday lives and we believe that needs to change!

The Early Detection and Prevention Committee
The Early Detection and Prevention committee is responsible for advancing the early detection and prevention education in the area with a focus on nicotine-free living, access to nutrition, and the overall promotion of healthy lifestyles. The first step is making preventative screenings more accessible to our community.
Our Early Detection and Prevention committee also advocates for tobacco-free campuses and workplaces throughout the area. We work with local officials and organizations to support this movement so we can lead a tobacco-free future.
How to Receive a Screening
Prevention is the key to living a longer and healthier life. By actively making healthier choices every day, you can help future you. Healthier choices can be as small as walking to the grocery store instead of driving, or stretching for 10 minutes every day. Healthier choices don’t need to be big, but they can be life-changing.
Early detection is also imperative when it comes to overall health. By catching something early, you have a higher chance of fighting it and winning. With the help of our partners, the Healthier Northshore Initiative is able to bring resources to the community for early detection screenings. One example of a resource available is the St. Tammany BeWellBus. The BeWellBus delivers healthcare to you while it travels to community health fairs and other local events. The bus provides screenings and other services to reinforce our public health goals.
