Education
Education is an important piece of the puzzle on overall wellness in the community. A lack of health literacy puts individuals at a disadvantage. If we can spread health and wellness education, it is the first step to tackling the greater issues at hand.

Growing Community Wellness Beginning From The Source
An important component of the Healthier NorthShore Initiative is educating our community on the value of nutrition. This includes showcasing and providing access to fresh produce in areas where it isn’t always readily available. An exciting project to come forward through collaborative efforts is a community garden on the campus of Safe Haven. This garden will serve as a resource for education as well as a source of nutrition for some of our community’s most vulnerable residents.

Education Committee
Our Education Committee is responsible for strengthening health and wellness education. Partnerships, events, and local experts educate on the values of…
- Mental health awareness
- Proper nutrition & exercise
- Nicotine and tobacco-free living
- Food Security
- Early detection & health screenings
- Preventive care
- Day-to-day wellness
- Women’s health
This committee compiles data from healthcare providers on what specifically needs to be improved and how to improve on it. More research is done to learn how to reach target audiences and utilize existing programs to ensure a wider reach.
